Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about Hormud internet, installation, billing and support in Nairobi.
General
Is Hormud an authorised Safaricom dealer?
Yes. Hormud Communications operates an authorised Safaricom dealership and M-Pesa agent outlets, offering SIM registration and replacement, airtime and bundles, and M-Pesa deposits and withdrawals.
Does Hormud install CCTV and office networks?
Yes. Beyond internet, Hormud designs and installs office networks, structured cabling, CCTV and surveillance systems, and provides cybersecurity services and custom software for businesses in Nairobi.
Internet
Is there a data cap or fair-usage policy?
No. All Hormud home and business packages are unlimited. We do not cap data or throttle speeds after a certain usage.
Which areas of Nairobi does Hormud cover?
Our fiber network is expanding across Nairobi. Use the coverage checker on our website to see whether your estate is live, coming soon or planned. If your area is not yet covered, leave your details and we will notify you when we go live.
Installation
How long does installation take?
In areas where our fiber is live, installation is usually completed within 24 to 48 hours of sign-up. A technician calls to schedule a time, installs the fiber drop and router, and tests the connection before leaving.
Billing
How much does Hormud home fiber internet cost?
Home fiber starts at KSh 2,000 per month for 10 Mbps. The most popular plan is 40 Mbps at KSh 4,000 per month, and plans go up to 1 Gbps at KSh 50,000 per month. Installation and a router are free, and there are no data caps.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my package?
Yes. You can change your package at any time from the customer portal or by contacting support. Changes take effect from your next billing cycle.
Business
What is the difference between home and business internet?
Home packages share capacity across our network and are priced by speed tier. Business internet is dedicated bandwidth — the capacity you pay for is reserved for you — with symmetric upload and download, static IP addresses, a 99.9% uptime SLA and priority support. Business pricing starts at KSh 150 per Mbps per month.
M-Pesa & payments
How do I pay my Hormud internet bill?
Log in to the customer portal at hormud.co.ke/portal, open your invoice and tap Pay with M-Pesa. You will receive an M-Pesa prompt on your phone; enter your PIN and the invoice is marked paid automatically. You can also pay via Lipa na M-Pesa using your account number.

Do you offer support at night and on weekends?
Yes. Technical support is available 24/7 by phone and WhatsApp on +254 791 566 535. Our office is open Monday to Friday 8am–6pm and Saturday 9am–4pm.
